JOB SUMMARY:
The Patient Account Representative performs general office functions related to the Billing Department. This includes but is not limited to assisting patients over the phone and occasionally in person, filing and auditing insurance claims, and responding to correspondence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists patient with their accounts
2. Files and audits insurance claims
3. Responds to correspondence regarding patient accounts
4. Audits and reconciles patient accounts
5. Proactively recognizes the need for process improvements and informs appropriate parties accordingly
6. Maintains weekly and monthly production reports for administration
7. Effectively communicates with team members as well as management.
8. Maintains clean and orderly work areas
9. Maintains regular and predictable attendance
10. Adheres to APC policies and procedures
11. Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
· Ability to read, write and interpret documents, follow and complete instructions, and communicate effectively
· Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of general office procedures and equipment
· Must have excellent customer service skills, including proper telephone etiquette and face to face contact, and have the ability to work well under pressure and respond appropriately to irate and upset customers.
· Must be able to work effectively with colleagues by practicing punctuality, respecting deadlines, collaboratively solve problems and practice open and honest communication
· Must display empathy and positive regard for others in written, verbal and non-verbal communications

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. and on to three years related experience or training.
Experience: One to three years of related experience or training, or a satisfactory combination of experience, education, and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job

Physical Conditions:
· Must be able to work as scheduled, typically M-F 8:00-500 p.m.
· Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged period of time
· Duties involve moving materials, weighing up to 30 lbs.
· Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, etc.

Direct Supervision: Reports to the Billing Supervisor and Manager
