Role Summary
Kings River Packing, LP seeks to hire a Packaging Project Manager as a member of the sales and marketing team. This is a new position that will play a crucial role in overseeing the packaging process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with the company and regulatory standards. The Packaging Project Manager will have two direct reports, a Packaging Engineer and Packaging Coordinator, and will collaborate with various departments to streamline packaging approval processes and ensure consistency across all facilities and suppliers.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and mentor team by providing guidance, setting clear goals, and fostering professional development to enhance team performance and collaboration.
- Promote accountability and continuous improvement within the Packaging team, ensuring alignment with company objectives, innovation in packaging solutions, and adherence to quality and compliance standards.
Packaging Portfolio Management
- Oversee and manage the entire packaging artwork portfolio, ensuring assets are up-to-date, compliant, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align packaging designs with brand identity and ensure consistency across all product lines.
Standards and Compliance
- Establish and maintain packaging standards, including material specifications, dimensions, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines for all packaging materials and designs.
- Serve as the main point of contact for regulatory inquiries related to packaging.
Brand Integrity and Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all packaging designs and materials align with company brand standards, quality benchmarks, and customer expectations.
- Partner with quality assurance teams to assess packaging performance, adjusting as necessary to improve durability, appearance, and functionality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with packaging engineers, design teams, and production teams to develop and implement innovative packaging solutions.
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to coordinate and execute packaging initiatives effectively.
- Provide guidance and support to the packaging coordinator in day-to-day operations and project management.
Process Improvement and Efficiency
- Identify opportunities to streamline the packaging development and approval process, reducing lead times and improving communication flow.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements in packaging materials and formats to support sustainability goals and cost optimization.
Project Management and Documentation
- Lead projects related to packaging updates, redesigns, and new launches, ensuring timelines, resources, and deliverables are met.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation for all packaging materials, specifications, and updates.
Innovation and Trends
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials advancements, and regulatory changes to continually enhance packaging solutions.
- Introduce new ideas and solutions that align with evolving customer expectations, sustainability initiatives, and operational goals.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in packaging management, packaging design, or a related field; experience in the food or produce industry is a plus.
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, design processes, and regulatory standards.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in packaging design software and asset management tools.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and initiatives in packaging is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods working on a computer or phone.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits
- $115,000 - $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
