POSITION SUMMARY:
The Gymnastics Coordinator will impact the community in the areas of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility through the effective management of the YMCA gymnastics program. The Gymnastics Coordinator will assist the Gymnastics/Program Director in the management of the gymnastics program in accordance with the policies and purpose of the YMCA of Southwest Florida.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist Gymnastics/Program Director on the development and implementation of a safe and effective curriculum for the YMCA gymnastics program.
- Serve as lead instructor for recreational program.
- Serve as communication liaison to gymnastics parents in the absence of Director.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, and evaluating gymnastics instructors through regularly scheduled meetings.
- Direct and supervise gymnastics instructors.
- Serve as instructor/coach to assigned gymnastics participants
- Assist with communication to gymnastics program parents through a weekly or monthly newsletter.
- Engage in active listening and model relationship-building skills in all interactions with members, volunteers, guests, and staff members in order to build relationships and communicate our cause.
- Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely and professional manner.
- Reflect and uphold the mission and core values of the YMCA when dealing with gymnastics participants, parents, and community members.
- Follow and enforce YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations.
- Must be highly motivated, professional, and have an enthusiastic attitude.
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Assist with compiling program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Adhere to all risk management and safety compliance issues within department
- Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.
- Assist with scheduling and pre-planning with birthday parties and open gym.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three or more years of related program experience, in a YMCA or private gymnastic club.
- Successful track record of program growth. Gymnastics team coaching experience preferred.
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff.
- Knowledge and understanding of skills and progressions regarding gymnastics class instruction.
- Enthusiasm for the sport of gymnastics and children.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- CPR and First Aid Certifications required.
- Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training.
- Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class.
- Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening.
- Completion of YMCA of USA required certifications.
- Completion of USA Gymnastics course in safety and risk management certification, which addresses the primary risks in gymnastics: injury and lawsuits.
- Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor.
