Position description


The Content Strategy Manager will be an integral member of the Communications team, driving content and marketing strategies that support the mission and objectives of the organization. This position focuses on creating, managing, and analyzing content to engage stakeholders and drive impactful action in health care, particularly in climate mitigation, resilience, and equity, while strengthening the organization’s brand narrative across all platforms.


Collaborating closely with Communications colleagues, the Content Strategy Manager will ensure a unified brand voice and messaging strategy. By leveraging market insights, audience analysis, and performance data, they will design and implement tactics to effectively reach target audiences and influence key stakeholders.


The ideal candidate brings expertise in content strategy, with a strong foundation in SEO and digital content management. They excel at producing engaging, multi-channel content and have a strategic eye for enhancing brand reach and engagement. This role requires flexibility to adapt quickly to high-priority projects, manage a dynamic workload, and serve as a central project manager for communication initiatives from concept through completion.

Requirements

Primary objectives

  1. Develop and execute comprehensive content and marketing strategies that align with organizational objectives, establish positioning, identify target audiences, and ensure a cohesive brand narrative across all platforms.
  2. Contribute to the planning, creation, editing, and publication of diverse content types, including website material, email campaigns, media outreach, social media posts, and position statements.
  3. Conduct regular content audits and analyze customer insights, consumer trends, and market data to assess effectiveness and inform future campaign development, providing actionable recommendations.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a unified approach to messaging and serve as project manager for communications initiatives from concept to completion.
  5. Partner with email, editorial, and web teams to design, test, evolve communications tactics, and facilitate data-driven decisions, leveraging internal support and driving collaboration.

General responsibilities

  •  Help develop project plans and creative briefs, and guide creative direction for advertising and public-facing communications, while coordinating, producing, and disseminating a wide range of content across various channels.
  • Conceptualize and execute multi-channel campaigns ensuring alignment of communications and effective content distribution strategies to maximize reach and impact.
  • Gather audience, partner, and market insights to inform outreach strategies and increase conversions, while assessing the effectiveness of marketing initiatives through tracking and analysis to optimize performance.
  • Serve as project manager for content initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and strong communication with stakeholders, while presenting ideas and deliverables to internal and external teams.
  • Coordinate closely with Communications team members to execute the marketing and communications strategy, demonstrating the ability to pivot quickly to support high-priority projects and initiatives.
  • Manage a complex workload of overlapping deliverables and meetings, shifting priorities for time-sensitive projects, and performing any other duties as needed to meet organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Education: BA or BS Degree in communications, advocacy, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field. Combined experience / education can be a substitute for minimum education.
  • Experience: A minimum of seven years of work experience in communications and/or marketing. Work experience in health care, climate change, or sustainability is preferred.  

Job-specific competencies:

  • Proven experience developing and executing content strategies that drive business objectives and user engagement.
  • Exceptional skills in content creation, planning, and editing, with a focus on delivering high-quality, timely content.
  • Strong proficiency in copy editing and familiarity with AP Style and internal style guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and ability to structure content effectively for optimal visibility.
  • Experience with content management systems and tools such as Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, and Asana.
  • Strong analytical skills for conducting content audits and assessing the effectiveness of content distribution.
  • Project management skills to oversee multiple content initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope
  • Familiarity with content performance metrics and analytics tools to track and analyze the effectiveness of content strategies.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders in a complex NGO and remote team environment.
  • Exceptional diplomacy and communication skills, both oral and written.
