The Ultrasound Mammography Technician is responsible for performing high-quality mammography procedures using specialized X-ray equipment. This role involves conducting screenings and diagnostic studies, ensuring patient safety, and delivering exceptional patient care. The technician must evaluate images for technical quality, including aspects such as density, contrast, and definition. This position plays a critical role in early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases.

  • Operate specialized mammography equipment to perform screening and diagnostic mammograms in accordance with physician orders.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, addressing concerns, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Evaluate mammography images for technical quality, including density, contrast, definition, and distortion, making adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation, adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Clean, maintain, and perform routine adjustments on mammography equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Assist the radiologist in special procedures such as biopsies, localization, and additional diagnostic studies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines, including infection control and radiation protection protocols.
  • Participate in quality control procedures and maintain compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in mammography technology, techniques, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited radiologic technology training program.
  • Active certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Diagnostic Mammography.
  • State license in Radiologic Technology (if required by state regulations).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of mammography procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate patient care.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
  • Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documentation and patient information management
Salary Description
$75,000 - $80,000
