Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineering Intern to join our team. As a Data Engineering Intern, you will work closely with our data team to support the integration, transformation, and management of healthcare data within our platform. This role offers hands-on experience in data engineering while contributing to meaningful healthcare technology solutions that improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines for healthcare information
- Assist in designing and implementing data integration solutions
- Help optimize data storage and retrieval processes
- Participate in data quality assurance and validation
- Contribute to documentation of data flows and processes
- Work with various healthcare data formats and standards
- Assist in developing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
- Support data security and privacy compliance efforts
- Document and propose process improvements for data management workflows
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Strong foundation in database systems and SQL
- Basic programming experience in Python, Java, or similar languages
- Understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts
- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare data formats (HL7, FHIR, etc.)
- Knowledge of big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Understanding of data privacy regulations (HIPAA)
- Experience with data visualization tools
- Previous coursework or projects in data engineering
- Version control system experience (Git)
