Description
Athletic Trainer
Venesco LLC is looking for a Certified Athletic Trainer at Moody Air Force Base. In this role you will ensure readiness, optimal physical and non-physical performance, reduced injury rates, improved rehabilitation after injury, and increased overall effectiveness for our airmen.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a full range of Certified Athletic Trainer duties. All services performed shall fall within those guidelines established by the National Athletic Trainers Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
- Prevent, recognize, treat, and rehabilitate injuries.
- Provide evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries incurred, including, but not limited to the following: progressive resistance exercise (PRE), open and closed chain kinetic exercises, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), manual therapy and joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, hydrocollator, cryotherapy, ultrasound, phonophoresis, iontophoresis, and all varieties of muscle stimulation.
- Provide treatment for soft tissue damage, acute and chronic edema, post-surgical edema, muscle atrophy, pain, overuse injuries, decreased circulation and loss of strength due to injury or biomechanical imbalance.
- Provide emergency first aid, evaluation and treatment of injuries, and aid in preliminary diagnosis to include recognition of severity of injury, rendering initial treatment and performing initial examination.
- Design and fabricate protective pads, equipment and braces for the prevention and treatment of injuries including the use of proper taping techniques.
- The ATC must be credentialed by the MTF and will be a non-privileged provider. The contractor provider is authorized to provide healthcare consistent with the scope of practice. The scope of practice is defined by the Board of Certification Standards of Professional Practice. No healthcare will be provided by contractor providers who have not yet completed Primary Source Verification, credentialing requirements and the written standard protocol agreement. All healthcare provided by the contractor, including oversight, quality of care, and medical records management, will be in adherence with Air Force, DoD, and DHA instructions. The ATC provides promotion and education on overall conditioning, performance enhancement, and health, work and exercise-related injury prevention, acute and chronic musculoskeletal injury and exercise-induced illness assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, psychosocial strategies and referral and data collection to monitor and demonstrate effectiveness. • Attendance and participation in monthly human performance update briefs to squadrons and group and quarterly 355th Wing embedded healthcare team meetings held during normal business hours.
- Rehabilitation is intended to strengthen the core musculoskeletal (MSK) system to enhance resistance to musculoskeletal injury and improve body mechanics. Also, overall MSK strengthening and healthy lifestyle education is addressed as part of an overall health maintenance program to enhance injury resistance. As such overall strength and conditioning, focusing on commonly injured areas amongst maintenance personnel, will improve the overall quality of life for maintainers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an Athletic Training Education Program, Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) or equivalent Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CSSHEP)
- Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Science Athletic Training, Health Profession or Physical Education-related discipline Recency (within the last 2 years the candidate has worked full-time in this profession IAW DHA-PM)
- Certification in Athletic Training through the Board of Certification (BOC). Recommended to possess a current certificate from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Recommended to possess a current certification in dry needling.
- Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Experience: 5 years of experience as a Licensed Athletic Trainer in college (or higher), professional or tactical athletics; aerospace industry, test pilot/astronaut or similar man-machine high-performance environment.
