Description

Summary of Position:
The BCBA works collaboratively with the special education and intervention team to develop and implement a positive behavior intervention program. The BCBA consults with school directors, principals, and staff to develop effective learning strategies and positive behavior interventions that support students’ academic progress in the least restrictive environment. 

The BCBA Therapist will work specifically in a high school setting and will focus on working directly with a student, providing one-on-one support, and assisting staff with implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold BCBA credentials through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Preferred experience in a K-12 educational setting.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and manage a coordinated behavior management program for the Special Education and Student Services department.
  • Plan, develop, and implement programs, procedures, and best practices using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Support the management of student behaviors across general and special education settings, including students with Autism, emotional disturbances, disabilities, and 504 plans.
  • Provide positive behavior interventions and support at the student, classroom, and school-wide levels.
  • Work directly with a high school student, providing individualized support in ABA techniques to promote positive behaviors and academic success.
  • Develop and deliver training to instructional assistants and staff implementing behavior intervention programs.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Functional Assessments (FA) as appropriate.
  • Collect and analyze data to create, monitor, and update Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Collaborate with school staff, including principals, psychologists, and teachers, to develop and evaluate behavior management strategies.
  • Provide hands-on support to students while training staff in positive behavior strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Stay current with research and best practices in behavior management and provide in-service training to staff on behavior strategies, avoidance of aversive techniques, and managing assaultive behavior.
  • Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and provide insights on behavior strategies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with staff and parents regarding behavior strategies and interventions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to interact in a personal and professional manner with at all levels with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations and provide adequate assistance. 
  • Valid driver’s license in the state you reside, acceptable driving record, reliable vehicle, and proof of valid auto insurance per state requirements.
