Battle Ground Academy (BGA) is seeking a creative, highly organized, and versatile Content Creator and Social Media Specialist with a passion for storytelling through photography, videography, and digital marketing. This role is integral to capturing and sharing the vibrant life of our PreK through 12th grade school, building brand awareness, and driving community engagement. The ideal candidate will be skilled at managing website content, social media channels, and digital profiles, while maintaining BGA’s brand integrity across all platforms. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this position will help elevate BGA’s online presence, telling the story of our students, faculty, and community.


Founded in 1889, BGA is a K-12th grade college preparatory school located in Franklin, TN. Serving a diverse student population from the surrounding counties, the school embodies the core values of character, scholarship, and excellence in all facets of campus life.


BGA is the oldest school in Franklin, a remarkable city located just 20 miles south of Nashville. It has been referred to as “a small-town gem” by the New York Times. The downtown is filled with locally-owned shops and restaurants. Main Street is home to iconic venues such as the Franklin Theater. Franklin features an abundance of historical sites and parks appealing to those who enjoy history and/or the outdoors. Quaint and welcoming, Franklin is truly a wonderful place to call home.

  

Key Responsibilities:

  

Content Creation & Storytelling:

  • Capture high-quality photos and videos that reflect BGA’s vibrant student life, academic programs, extracurricular activities, and special events.
  • Produce organic video content for the website, social media, and email campaigns.
  • Write and create engaging content for the website, newsletters, social media, and marketing materials.
  • Develop partnerships with faculty, staff, and students to capture timely events and create storytelling opportunities.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, photographers, and videographers as needed to produce multimedia content.

Social Media Management:

  • Manage BGA’s main social media channels (e.g., Instagram, Facebook) by creating consistent and engaging posts.
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar for social media, ensuring content aligns with strategic objectives.
  • Monitor and respond to social media interactions to foster community engagement and maintain brand reputation.
  • Collaborate with other institutional social media channels to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Track and analyze the performance of social media campaigns and adjust strategies as needed.

Website, App, & Digital Marketing:

  • Assist in website management, including creating new pages and updating content to keep it current and compliant with SEO and accessibility standards.
  • Serve as the point person for managing the school’s app, ensuring content and updates are current, engaging, and aligned with the school’s goals.
  • Manage digital profiles (e.g., Niche, Nashville Parent) to enhance BGA’s online presence.
  • Ensure the website and app have up-to-date photos, videos, and content that align with BGA’s branding guidelines.

Photography & Videography:

  • Serve as BGA’s in-house photographer and videographer, covering events and maintaining the school’s photo galleries and video archives.
  • Support both digital and print publications with high-quality imagery and video content.

Graphic Design:

  • Design materials for admissions, advancement, and school publications, including digital content for emails and social media.
  • Ensure all visual content adheres to BGA’s branding guidelines and maintains a cohesive visual identity.

General Marketing & Brand Strategy:

  • Support the execution of the marketing plan to effectively communicate BGA’s story to key stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Director of Communications to uphold BGA’s brand identity, language, and visual execution.
  • Engage with the school community to bring the brand strategy to life through collaboration and creativity.
Requirements
  •  Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field such as marketing, communications, or digital media.
  • Proficiency in graphic design and the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Experience in photography, videography, and social media management.
  • Proficiency in content management systems and photo/video editing software.
  • Experience managing a mobile app and digital profiles (e.g., Google, Wikipedia) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various departments.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines consistently.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
  • Works in a high-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts. Work includes several weeknight and weekend events throughout the year
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment
  • May work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities/events, including extreme heat and cold
  • May work at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
