Associate Executive Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Executive Director stewards the Y’s cause, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization within the community. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this role oversees all branch programs and drives outcomes in alignment with strategic initiatives. The preferred candidate has demonstrated success in Aquatics and Sports Programming as well as community outreach experience. He/she leads efforts in volunteer and staff development, financial development, and collaboration with community stakeholders.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact with all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders) and develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  2. Manages the budgeting process of assigned departments so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets.
  3. Recruits, leads, and develops a high-functioning program staff team. Will provide leadership in ensuring all program staff is equipped to always provide the best experience possible.
  4. Develops and directs high-quality programs that support branch and association goals and strategies. Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team.
  5. Under the direction of the Executive Director, leads, develops, and coordinates community outreach initiatives. Seeks out opportunities for future collaborations.
  6. Directs the financial development activities of assigned areas of responsibility.
  7. Implements branch strategic planning initiatives and provides input on the annual operating plan of the branch.
  8. Maintains quality and safety standards of facilities and programs.
  9. Assists Executive Director in achieving Annual Campaign fundraising goals and special events.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven success in program management, preferably in Sports and Aquatics
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Four or more years of management experience, including team leadership, preferably in a YMCA.
  • Proven track record of successful program growth and innovative program development.
  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to communicate and strengthen relationships with community leaders.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
  • the community.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
