GENERAL SUMMARY

The X-Ray Technologist performs radiographic procedures including operation of the lithotripter and C-Arm and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Performs diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have and maintain current license and certification as an X-Ray Technologist within the required state regulations.
  • CPR certification required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma required.
  • A college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or 
  • training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and 
  • experience.
  • One or more years of clinical experience preferred but not required
