Job Summary
This position is responsible for driving overall sales and profitability of commercial services and products offered by the Bank. Through effective business relationship building, community involvement, and sales ability, the Business Development Officer demonstrates a commitment to grow Commercial Deposits, and referrals of new Commercial Loans to its Lenders.
This role must also maintain knowledge and understanding of all Bank products and offerings to facilitate cross selling opportunities, as well as provide leads to our Wealth Management Department. Oversees and manages the company’s BRASS (Business Referrals Achieving Sales Success - Business Development) Program.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct business development calls with local individuals and businesses to advise and offer value of new deposit and loan accounts
- Establish new Commercial accounts as a result of business development effort, including calling on potential and existing clients
- Carry out and assist with Bank wide business development programs and initiatives, ensuring adherence to quality customer service throughout the process
- Manage the bank’s BRASS interdisciplinary sales and business development program to ensure that business development activities are properly coordinated, conducted and monitored in support of related organizational objectives. Oversee the administration of the bank’s customer relationship management system (“Hubspot”) and ensure effective comprehensive system utilization and associated business referral. Coordinate BRASS activities in collaboration with the Senior Commercial Loan Officer, the Senior Retail Loan Officer, the Wealth Management Director and the Marketing Director.
- Proactively identify and research opportunities for business development leads through establishing priorities, and exploring lists, records, newspapers and other resources.
- Refer leads to other Commercial Lenders, Mortgage Loan Officers and Branch Managers as appropriate
- Actively contribute to growth for our retail deposits, providing leads to all Branch Managers. Initiate calls with Branch Managers to help enhance selling skills and uncover consumer opportunities
- Recommends upgrades, elimination or future development of under-performing products and services and development or introduction of new products and services as necessary
- Ensure customer needs are met, exhibiting superb customer service in all interactions, take proactive steps to promote a favorable image of the bank in all business activities within the community
- Required to actively participate in the local community events, such as; Chamber of Commerce, home shows and open houses to promote the products and services of the Bank
- Assist with retail and commercial marketing programs as required
- Respond to customer inquiries and evaluate their needs. Actively suggest Bank products/services to customers to meet their needs
- Maintain and establish contact with business managers and other professionals within the established area, (customers and non-customers) through direct calls, business organization gatherings and other functions, to actively solicit new business for the Bank and inform them of any new products or services
- Conduct follow-up calls to all business customers to ascertain if the level of customer satisfaction has been met as well as periodically communicating with customers to determine if other banking needs exist and to ensure consistent customer satisfaction
- Prepare and present reports on new commercial relationships, volume and performance against goals, according to established requirements and schedules. Monitor market trends (competition, rates, products/programs, etc.) and recommend changes as appropriate
- Participate in staff meetings, seminars and courses to remain current in industry information.
- Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with Federal and State banking regulations and adheres to all Bank policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Banking experience with a strong concentration in Commercial Lending is required.
- Three to five years of progressively more responsible experience in banking and sales.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with various software programs.
- Valid Driver’s license.
