Job Summary

The Sales Compensation Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing competitive and effective sales compensation programs that attract, motivate, and retain top-performing sales talent. This role requires a strong understanding of sales compensation, best practices, data analysis, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. This position reports to the VP of Accounting and Finance.



Responsibilities

  • Compensation Plan Design and Administration: 

o Develop and maintain competitive compensation plans that align with company goals, sales strategies, and market trends.

o Conduct thorough job analysis and evaluation to ensure equitable and consistent compensation practices.

o Model potential plan changes and analyze their financial impact.

o Clearly document and communicate compensation plans to the sales team and relevant stakeholders.

o Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to compensation.

  • Sales Performance Analysis: 

o Analyze sales performance data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential compensation adjustments.

o Track key performance indicators (KPI's) related to compensation plans and make data-driven recommendations for optimization.

o Develop and deliver regular reports on sales compensation effectiveness and ROI.

  • Collaboration and Communication: 

o Partner closely with Sales leadership, HR, and Finance to ensure alignment on compensation strategies and objectives.

o Effectively communicate compensation plans and updates to the sales team, addressing questions and concerns.

o Gather feedback from sales representatives and managers to continuously improve compensation programs.

o Minimal travel required.

  • Process Improvement and Automation: 

o Streamline and automate compensation processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

o Identify and implement tools and technologies to enhance compensation plan management and reporting.

o Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in sales compensation.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience: 

o Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.

o 3+ years of experience in sales compensation design and administration, preferably in manufacturing or construction industry.

o Experience with various compensation plan structures (e.g., quota-based, commission-only, hybrid).

  • Skills and Knowledge: 

o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

o Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, compensation software, etc.).

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

o Knowledge of sales compensation best practices and regulations.

o Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus.
