Description

The expected compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 yearly payable on a semi-monthly basis.


The Data Scientist (Analyst Level) will leverage 3-5 years of data science experience and work as part of a team to achieve efficiencies in managing the flow, extraction, and transformation of national program data primarily for the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program. HOPWA is the only Federal program dedicated to meeting the housing needs of low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families.

  

General tasks to be undertaken by the Data Scientist (Analyst Level) include:

  • Cleaning, janitoring, merging, and management of data from various sources.
  • Supporting the collection, aggregation, synthesis, analysis, visualization, and interpretation of data. 
  • Performing analysis using several analytical software packages, such as STATA or R.
  • Conducting exploratory data analysis to understand the underlying patterns, trends, and relationships in the data. Create hypotheses and identify potential areas for deeper analysis or modeling.
  • Using analytics methods to extract value from business data.
  • Contributing to a vision and roadmap for the utilization and management of data on client projects. 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, software engineering, or related field with 3-5 years of experience; OR Master’s degree with 1-2 years of related work experience. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire others.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Stata, R, or Java. 
  • Familiar with SQL And Power BI preferred. 
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to pass a federal background check.
  • Flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently as a team player is required. 
  • Willingness to collaborate and work in remote team settings is required.
