Position Overview: The Business Development Team Lead and Brand Ambassador is responsible for identifying and starting business relationships with new ideal fit potential clients. As a new role, a high degree of input is expected in creating processes, content, strategies, and alignment with appropriate technologies/ automation. A key component of the role is to be one of the “faces of the company” on social sites such as LinkedIn, increasing the awareness of our brand and value to potential clients. This role will collaborate closely with sales, sales operations, and marketing leadership. Success in this role is establishing and performing effective processes that build high-trust business relationships and awareness with potential clients including setting appointments for the sales team. Correctly aligned appointments will result in new client acquisitions that exceed individual and department revenue goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee the Business Development department including the hiring, training, coaching, and success of the Business Development Representatives.
75% Outreach, Lead Generation & Appointment Setting:
- Identify potential clients focusing on the targeted ideal customer profile (ICP).
- Develop, test, and complete outreach messaging, sequences, and strategies.
- Develop and support outreach campaigns, including cold calls, emails, social videos, social postings, and LinkedIn outreach to generate new potential client relationships.
- Qualify leads and schedule meetings between prospects and VP of Sales staff.
- Coordinate follow-up communication with leads, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and requests.
- Build and help maintain strong relationships with prospective clients.
20% Department Management & Operations:
- Develop, implement, and manage business development team sales processes, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Complete market analysis and industry trends to develop effective business development strategies.
- Analyze data and metrics to provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with marketing to ensure alignment and integration of sales and marketing strategies.
- Continuously refine department outreach messaging, while collaborating with leadership and direct reports, to increase effectiveness.
- Provide end-to-end oversight of our lead generation sales processes.
- Collaborate with Sales Operations to prepare dashboards, reporting, and tracking for business development metrics and KPIs.
- Train in and coach direct reports regularly on best practices to achieve goals such as technology use, outreach scripting, lead generation, and appointment setting.
- Research and vet department tech stack applications to be used that drive effective outreach messaging and achieve revenue results.
5% Miscellaneous:
- Potential travel to attend industry conferences.
- Maintain updated documentation and training programs for the Business Development Team.
- Communicate department growth needs and proactively initiate next steps.
- Other duties as assigned.
Sales Leadership Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience managing and leading a sales team.
- At least 3 years of experience partnering with marketing and sales operations teams.
- 3+ years of experience in a new client acquisition role.
- BPO industry experience highly preferred, but not required.
- Collegiate level skill set in proofreading, spelling, grammar and overall proficiency in business professional listening, writing and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent ability to remain organized and handle multiple tasks and projects, prioritize, be independent, manage time effectively, high attention to detail, and be a self-starter.
Technical Experience (Equipment and Tools Used):
- Extensive Intent Data tool experience (Apollo.io, Zoom Info, 6Sense experience preferred).
- High level of social media proficiency including LinkedIn and Sales Navigator.
- High level of competency with video content creation, sharing, and posting.
- Internet and PC proficient.
- Proficiency in cloud-based software, CRM systems such as Zoho or Salesforce, HubSpot and process modeling tools.
- Demonstrated experience with high efficiency and accuracy of typing and word processing.
- Advanced MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Mail, and Calendar experience.
- Experience with telephone systems and conference calling.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (business management, sales and marketing management, and communications related degrees preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Standing, sitting and walking.
- A moderate level of bending and lifting may be required up to 25 pounds.
- Business travel up to 25% of the time
