Prevailance is seeking a seasoned Senior Engineer Analyst – Main Propulsion with extensive shipboard propulsion engineering expertise to support U.S. Navy operations. This role requires hands-on experience in propulsion systems, readiness evaluations, and engineering administration programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise in Main Propulsion (MP) systems across various platforms (Gas Turbine, Diesel, and Steam)
- Evaluate and support MP administrative programs, including LOQM, FOQM, DFS, TSO, and Bearing Records
- Conduct readiness evaluations based on the Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM), particularly Chapter 6
- Support INSURV inspections, understanding the requirements of Master Event Lists, Workbook deliverables, and inspection guides
- Manage maintenance and operational programs, including Material Maintenance Management (3M) and the Planned Maintenance System (PMS)
- Apply knowledge of support systems such as lube and fuel oil services, HP and LP Air, CRP, and control systems
- Utilize the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) to assess Equipment Operational Capability (EOC) definitions and scoring
- Engage in travel (up to 50%) and embark U.S. Naval vessels for extended periods during operations and inspections
Qualifications:
- Engineering-centered experience as one of the following: Chief Engineer, Main Propulsion Assistant, or Top Snipe on multiple propulsion platforms
- Minimum of 20 years of shipboard propulsion engineering experience, including three (3) at-sea tours in MP roles
- Recent (within the past 5 years) shipboard MP engineering experience
- EOOW qualification on at least one platform
- Proficient in MP-related administrative and support systems
- Working knowledge of:
- SFTRM Chapter 6 readiness evaluations
- INSURV publications, including inspection guides and schedules
- JFMM Volume 6 scoring and EOC definitions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Physically capable of climbing ladders and staying aboard Naval vessels for consecutive days
Strongly Desired:
- 25 years of Navy surface ship engineering experience
- Retired LDO, CWO, or E8 / E9 paygrade
- Experience as an Inspector for the U.S. Navy Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV)
- Experience at Afloat Training Group or TYCOM staff, focusing on pre-INSURV preparations
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with:
- Optimum Fleet Response Plan (OFRP) and its execution via the SFTRM
- INSURV inspection functional areas, SOEs, and associated references
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Security Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
