What you will be doing:
We are seeking an experienced Systems Developer to join our SDI’s IT department and contribute to the development and maintenance of applications that support the academic and administrative functions of the institution. The Systems Developer will be a key member of the IT team and be responsible for creating and maintaining a scalable integration architecture and maintaining custom code development best practices. The ideal candidate will work closely with various departments to design, develop, and implement software solutions that support the institution’s operational and strategic initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Systems Developer will be part of a team that supports the delivery of solutions that helps shape how SDI delivers operational services and strategic initiatives.
- Develop, test, and deploy software applications tailored to support operational and administrative functions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT team members to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Maintain, upgrade, and/or enhance existing systems, integrations, and custom development ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the institution.
- Ensure data security and compliance with institutional and regulatory policies.
- Provide support for analytic data models and support data extraction from external data sources.
- Troubleshoot software and integration issues and provide ongoing support for technology solutions.
- Maintain code, processes, and system configurations for future reference and compliance purposes.
- Develop and maintain an integration architecture that is flexible and scalable.
- Work closely with the Business System Analyst team members to design and develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of the institution.

What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field; a master’s degree is a plus
- Two years or more experience as a developer; in a higher education institution strongly preferred
- Experience with programming languages such as html, Java, and C#.
- Familiarity with standard web development frameworks and best practices
- Strong understanding of database management and development (i.e. SQL, PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with Azure Platform Services and technologies such as Azure Functions and Logic Apps
- Experience with higher education ERP systems including Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Student Information Systems (SIS)
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all departments as well as with Senior Leadership
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on innovative solutions
- Experience in developing and maintaining applications within the higher education domain
Preferred Certifications/Training:
- Certifications and/or training in building reports; SSRS a plus
- Experience designing and developing integration architecture
- Familiarity with academic research tools and platforms
- Knowledge of user interface/user experience (UI/UX) design principles
- Experience working in Agile development environments
