Job Purpose and Objectives: This general public health nursing position involves direct nursing services for clients in open and
satellite clinics. Duties include immunizations, WIC, STD, Disease investigation, child health, and adult health nursing
programs. Work includes planning for and carrying out public health nursing programs and coordinating these programs
with related services. Work is performed with latitude for professional independence and following established agency
policies and procedures under the general direction of the Nurse Administrator and reviewed through reports for results
achieved. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Essential Duties:
- Evaluate each client’s immunization status and administer per the direction of the supervisor.
- Responsible for obtaining laboratory specimens for the screening and/or the diagnoses of communicable diseases.
- Provides screenings for disease management under the direction of supervisor to assist community linkage.
- Provides health education regarding communicable diseases, family planning methods, and sexually transmitted diseases to parents, children, and the general public.
- Provides Physical screenings including vision, hearing, ASQ-3 AND ASQ: SE-2 screenings, and laboratory tests with appropriate referrals and follow-up.
- Counsels the client and family in meeting health needs including health promotions, nutrition, and chronic health needs.
- Complete all mandatory training for compliance with grant and program requirements.
- Perform duties related to Health Department programs to fulfill grant requirements.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of professional nursing principles and practices, public health nursing theory, and practice of their application. Comprehensive knowledge of public health-related issues.
- Ability to provide skilled nursing care based on scientific principles, basic behavioral concepts, and intelligent professional judgment
- Able to administer injections and treatments and to perform screening tests. Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm while working under pressure in a busy environment
- Ability to work within the timeframe of standard policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company and client information
- Ability to work under moderate supervision by the Nurse Administrator
- Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy, fast-growth environment

Education
- Must hold a national certificate as a Certified Medical Assistant or a Registered Medical Assistant and the certificate must be active and in good standing.
- Graduate from an accredited school. Must complete ICS training within six months of hire and pass required testing.
- Maintain current Assessment Certification, which includes Vision, Hearing, and ASQ-3 AND ASQ: SE-2 Certifications. Maintain current CPR Certification.
