Description

The Victory Channel Makeup Artist will provide knowledge, skill, and artistry to the application of professional television makeup which accentuates the look, comfort and confidence of on-camera talent. You will be a member of a team of artists responsible for preparing Victory Channel on air hosts, pastors, news anchors, reporters, guests, and other talent to appear on national, high-definition television. A high level of proficiency in makeup application and style, and a basic working knowledge of hairstyling and grooming for both men and women is required. An ability to understand and work in the rapidly changing environment of broadcast television and occasional live events is critical. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Makeup application on both men and women appropriate for television standards; often this must be accomplished quickly with a high level of skill, especially for women.
  • Responsible for maintaining the on-camera talent’s appearance to ensure a cohesive and consistent look. This requires the makeup artist to familiarize themselves with all on-camera talent that often appear on the Victory Channel. 
  • Hairstyling for women appropriate for television and in line with the look and style of the program, service, or event. This too must be accomplished quickly and includes a high level of proficiency in the techniques such as blow-outs as well as using hot irons to accomplish volume and smoothness and a defined hairstyle for women.
  • Grooming for men appropriate for television and in line with the look and style of the program, service, or event. This includes ensuring their hair and facial hair is not out of place or unruly. 
  • Provide excellent service and support of Victory Channel on air talent, pastors, news anchors, reporters, and guests who are visiting Victory Channel by always projecting a friendly, helpful demeanor.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and solve problems by proposing solutions.
  • Always a dedicated teammate that jumps in to help others who are readying talent for air. 
  • A good steward of the hair and makeup room, supplies, and tools by sharing this responsibility with your colleagues.
  • Keep the hair and makeup room and one's personal space clean, tidy, and free of clutter, and identify products that need to be replenished so that supplies are well-stocked.
  • An understanding that the nature of television, especially news, requires employees to be flexible with their schedule such as coming to work earlier or later than a planned shift to accommodate the needs of a news bureau responding to breaking news. 
  • Staying up to date on the latest trends, products, and techniques in the industry.


Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 0-2 years of experience working in the field of television makeup and hair
  • Cosmetology school graduate and/or experience working in the field as a professional makeup artist preferred. 
  • Experience working as a Professional Makeup Artist in the Television industry preferred.
  • College Degree in Television Production preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability in makeup and hair for both men and women.
  • High attention to detail, self-motivated, and resourceful, with a strong personal standard of excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional attitude as a representative of Victory Channel when greeting and looking after on-air talent and contributors.
  • Promptness, dependability, and a strong work ethic.
  • Strong communication skills, well mannered, adaptable, and a quick problem solver. 
  • Candidates must be flexible with their schedules as shifts change frequently depending on breaking news or last-minute changes to events.

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

- Makeup products and applicators 

- Hair styling tools and products 

- Makeup chairs and lighting

 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to work, stand, and sit for a minimum of seven and a half hours per day in various temperatures, depending on location and time of the job, which could include studio, edit suite, or an outdoor shoot.
  • Production shoots and post-production preparation may require you to assist in carrying equipment or materials.
  • Must be able to carry production-related equipment or materials up to 50 pounds and climb stairs that lead to or from your workplaces.
  • Must be able to carry a makeup kit from location to location, including wearing a makeup bag for touchups on set/location.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Must be able to travel as needed, generally no longer than ten days at a time several times a year.

.WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to work well in indoor and outdoor settings as project dictates.
  • Working conditions are like those of other tele-production facilities involved in producing television programs, spots, and segments.  
  • Business office settings, studio, and remote locations are typical workplaces. 
  • Times can be outside the regular 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM shift.   
  • Weekends as required by meetings, events, shoots, and conventions.
  • There may be productions that require you to work longer hours to complete a project.

OTHER:

  • Born again believer and must adhere to the doctrines of this organization as upheld by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland and their appointed representatives.
  • Must work well with others, as a team and according to Romans 16:17, must not cause dissension, difficulties and divisions.
  • Must maintain a good attendance record.
  • Membership and attendance at EMIC are preferred.
  • Because of the wide range of personal contact with ministry leaders within and outside the organization, this position requires considerable diplomacy, maturity, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with people of all cultures.
