Description
Function:
The Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering plays a critical role on the executive leadership team and is responsible for directing and managing all manufacturing activities. In this role, the incumbent will develop and implement manufacturing strategies that align with corporate strategies and objectives to achieve operational excellence, increase productivity, and support Channellock’s Core Values while providing leadership and mentorship.
Essential Functions:
- Key responsibilities include driving operational and strategic plans, improving processes, and fostering a culture that values safety, quality, and productivity.
- Participate and collaborate in an operational capacity in the following:
- Board of Directors – Strategic Planning
- Labor Relations – Negotiations and Grievances
- Systems Implementation Teams
- Quality Planning Committees
- Develop and implement a comprehensive manufacturing and engineering strategy including overseeing processes, capacity planning, and resource allocation to reach optimal efficiency and cost reduction.
- Establish and ensure maintenance of quality control procedures and standards while meeting the demand of our customers.
- Engage in a culture of continuous improvement, capital expenditures, and operation efficiency while promoting safety.
- Manage manufacturing and engineering budgets to achieve financial targets and control budgetary costs for capital expenditures.
- Provide data-drive reports to guide decision-making and strategy.
- Exercise general management control over practices in the plant concerning production methods, quality, work rules, disciplinary actions, housekeeping, morale, etc.
- Leverage ERP and manufacturing systems within operations and engineering to manage and control labor and overhead costs.
- Lead cross-functional teams, ensuring interdepartmental coordination and alignment on key operational goals and objectives
- The VP will also be responsible for building and leading a high-performing manufacturing organization, supporting new product development, and ensuring process improvements.
- Relationship Management:
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including vendors, supplier, and contractors.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across the organization.
- Performance Management:
- Oversee and lead the operational and engineering departments to maintain productivity and quality of the day-to-day completion of the tasks.
- Establish clear and measurable goals for the department.
- Identify, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) within the respective departments including regular performance reviews and feedback loops.
- Encourage and foster a culture that promotes continuous improvement where employees are empowered to identify inefficiencies, propose solutions, and implement process enhancements to drive performance excellence.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in successful manufacturing leadership roles.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and supply chain management.
- Experience in labor relations including negotiations, grievance, and CBA’s.
