REPORTS TO: School Based Team Lead and Clinical Director of Outpatient and Addiction Services

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None


POSITION OVERVIEW: Provides therapy at designated school locations in schools settings in Wichita and surrounding communities. Provides therapy with an emphasis of prevention. Work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health and recover from mental illness. The scope of service includes diagnosis and treatment of mental health issues in a culturally sensitive, age appropriate manner, consistent with best practice approaches.


ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides therapeutic services in order to maintain required productivity/billing standard.
  2. Meets deadlines and ensures accuracy of various report/paperwork, mileage sheets, and electronic timesheets.
  3. Maintains accurate documentation of service provision. Completes progress notes in a manner that individualizes each note, reflecting appropriate interventions and progress towards goals.
  4. Submits required progress notes/billing information in a timely manner as per agency and insurance guidelines and contracts.  
  5. Performs clinical assessments, formulates diagnoses, and develop treatment plans based on medical necessity and best practice interventions.
  6. Evaluates clients’ physical or mental condition based on review of client information, including monitoring of client’s use of medication.
  7. Provides therapy services to clients and families, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming mental illness and making changes. Guides clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with identified problems.
  8. Coordinates with school based staff to ensure appropriate access and referrals for therapy. 
  9. Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and clients’ progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives. Modifies treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to adapt with changes in clients’ status.
  10. Counsels family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients.
  11. Meets with families, probation officers, police, and other interested parties in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  12. Maintains confidentiality of records relating to clients treatment.
  13. Initiates discharge planning with clients to facilitate termination. 
  14. Gathers information about client health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy. Refers patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
  15. Learns about new developments in the field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.


Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Therapist must have a Master’s degree (or above) and possess licensure in their respective field of study. Must be eligible for approval of 3rd party payer systems and apply for a variety of insurance panels. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Therapist will have knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions. A valid Kansas drivers license and access to personal vehicle required.  


OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Maintains acceptable overall attendance record, to include department staff meetings, agency meetings, and trainings as required. Ensures appropriate notification to supervisor for absences, and ensures that work is covered. Flexible in work schedule when needed.
  2. Exhibits appropriate level of technical knowledge for the position.  
  3. Produces quantity of work necessary to meet job requirements.  
  4. Works well with a team, keeps others informed of information needed. Treats others with respect, maintaining a spirit of cooperation.

  8. Performs work conscientiously with a high degree of accuracy. Effectively utilizes supervision as appropriate (when applicable). Accepts and is receptive to feedback. 
  9. Meets goals and objectives as mutually agreed upon during last performance review (if applicable).
