Description

Carrier Vibrating Equipment (CVE), a division of Carrier Process Equipment Group (CPEG), is a Louisville, KY based company specializing in material handling and processing equipment. We are looking for the BEST Controls/Instrumentation Engineer in the business.

 Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.  


What you’ll do

  • Review/edit electrical schematics, P&IDs, and various process drawings
  • Program and update Control Systems (PLC, HMI, VFD, etc.)
  • Create instrumentation BOMs including sensors, control valves, buyout assemblies, etc.
  • Author Controls Narratives and other related technical documentation required for project
  • Troubleshoot problems and resolve customer complaints.
  • Review Inquiry and Order specifications specific to controls.
  • Manage multiple projects in various phases.
  • Complete proper internal & customer-specified documentation for jobs and projects
  • Assist with equipment start-up either remotely or at the job site.
  • Accompany PE communications where possible to become primary contact on control systems related business.
  • Develop estimates or manage estimate process for controls related hardware.
  • Responsible for technical support of the lab control system, sensors, and wiring. Includes special projects requiring ad-hoc single use systems.
  • Responsible for support/oversight of rental system controls.
  • Provide technical consultation to in-house departments and to customers.
  • Maintenance as required to standard control designs. 
Requirements
  • Education: BS Electrical or Technical degree in a related field
  • Licenses/Certificates: Driver’s License
  • Experience: 5 years of previous relevant experience. 

Skills

  • Technical skill and knowledge in Process Controls Engineering.
  • Initiative in solving problems.
  • Excellent communication skills – must interface with other departments, sales representatives and customers.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Familiarity with a variety of sensors, transmitters, actuators, control valves, calibration and certification requirements/methods, etc.
  • Proficient in PLC & HMI programming, preferably with experience in Rockwell’s Logix5000 & FactoryTalk View as well as Siemens’ TIA Portal.
  • Ability to read & interpret electrical schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, etc. (AutoCAD experience a plus).
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC), 79, UL508A, & ISA 5.1 standards

Physical Demands

  • Some medium lifting (40 lbs.), stair climbing, crouching, etc. may be required when working in the laboratory, shop or customer plant.

Other

  • Occasional domestic and international travel as needed (2 days - 1 week duration typical – 20-25% of time).

Salary Description
$75 to $100K Annually
