The Surgery Coordinator position requires utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per provider's orders. The Surgery Coordinator will schedule office based and hospital procedures consistent with the patient's diagnosis and procedure request. This position requires excellent customer service skills with patients, employees and the public. the Surgery Coordinator must be able to respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding schedule changes/cancellations in a time, accurate manner. Individual must be organized, and able to manage demanding workload with accuracy.

• Maintain surgical scheduling system
• Schedule patients for surgical procedures
• Complete patient paperwork for scheduling
• Schedule diagnostic work pre- or post-operation
• Ensure that all required equipment is ready for appointments
• Verify physician orders for appointments
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

• Minimum of a high school diploma and 1-3 years experience in a healthcare, scheduling, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with EMR system. (Athena preferred)

• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals
