As a GIS Analyst for our RCAD System, you will be pivotal in optimizing emergency response procedures and improving public safety outcomes. Your primary responsibilities will involve utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) and geospatial data analysis to support dispatch center operations. You will collaborate closely with emergency response teams, dispatchers, and technical staff to ensure accurate and timely delivery of critical location-based information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Geospatial data collection, maintenance, and analysis to support RCAD operations
- Create and manage geographic databases, ensuring data accuracy and completeness
- Develop and update GIS maps, layers, and visualizations for dispatch use
- Collaborate with dispatch personnel to integrate GIS data into their workflow
- Conduct spatial analyses to identify trends, hotspots, and potential areas of concern
- Provide real-time GIS support during emergency situations, assisting in decision-making
- Offer technical expertise and training to CAD personnel on GIS-related tools and applications
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in GIS technology to suggest improvements
- Associate’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Cartography, or related field required. A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience working with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or other industry-standard tools
- Familiarity with CAD systems and their integration with GIS platforms (e.g., Esri ArcGIS for Public Safety)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geospatial data
- Excellent communication skills to convey GIS-related information to non-technical personnel
- Knowledge of GPS and location-based technologies
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced emergency situations
- Experience in public safety, emergency services, or dispatch operations is a plus
- Experience with Motorola Premier One CAD software is a plus
