Description


This is an opportunity for an experienced self-starter to drive digital marketing strategy at Trout Unlimited (TU). We are hiring a Digital Marketing Director who will lead the development and execution of strategic, creative, and inspiring email, social media, and web campaigns that build awareness of TU and inspire target audiences to support our cause. The director will play a key role in activating TU’s brand and leveraging digital marketing strategies to help us grow the number of people who support TU. They will reach new, younger and more diverse audiences and build a case for them to work with us to conserve and recover rivers and streams and the fish and communities that depend on them.


Reporting to the Vice President for Communications and Brand, the director will manage digital marketing staff, work closely with communications, content, and creative teams, and collaborate with other departments working to raise money, engage volunteers in our conservation work, and mobilize advocates to support policy goals.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of digital marketing strategies—including targeted email, paid and organic social media, and web campaigns—that will activate TU’s brand and inspire new, younger, and more diverse audiences to volunteer, advocate, donate and join in support the organization’s mission
  • Work with a small team to build and deliver digital content, drive social media growth, and leverage TU.org to engage supporters based on their interests and affinities
  • Help TU meet organizational goals for on-the-ground engagement, revenue and membership in collaboration with engagement, advocacy communications, and membership development staff 
  • With support from TU’s Membership department, manage lead-generation strategy with a digital marketing agency 
  • Play a key role in developing coordinated marketing and communications strategies in collaboration with the rest of the Communications and Brand team
  • Develop, track and report performance metrics; adjust campaign strategies based on KPIs; promote data-driven decision making
  • Learn TU’s CRM system to assist with the integration of digital platforms to ensure tracking and targeting of members and supporters
Requirements
  • College degree or relevant experience
  • 7+ years of marketing experience and demonstrated success in leading creative, attention-grabbing digital campaigns that reach and inspire young, diverse audiences
  • Enthusiasm for solving problems; highly motivated and skilled at taking on projects and running with them
  • Proficient in tracking analytics and using data to adjust strategies
  • Experience working with digital marketing platforms (email, text, social, web) and using customer relationship databases to track and target audiences based on interests, affinities, geographies, and other audience attributes; 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, WordPress, and Google Analytics
  • Experience developing SEO strategies to enhance visibility and ranking on search engines
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and an attention to detail; creative / graphic design skills are a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple marketing projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable with remote, cross-functional work; capable of building relationships within dispersed and complex organizations
  • Management experience is a plus
  • Committed to the conservation of the nation’s lands and waters
  • Passion for trout, salmon, and fly fishing a plus
