Nine yacht care centers from Maine to Florida complete the Hinckley offering by providing service, refits, transportation, and storage for a pinnacle ownership experience.   The Savanah GA Service yard is looking for a Marine Rigger. 

  

The Marine Rigger will effectively and efficiently install, maintain, repair, and replace sailboat rigging and sail systems. Sailboat Riggers are mechanically inclined and experienced in the use of basic hand tools, air tools and electric power tools. The Rigger will be a year-round position for candidates willing to do other tasks in the off-season around the yard not pertaining to rigging.

Responsibilities

  • Un-step and step masts.
  • Assemble and disassemble spars.
  • Tune standing rigging.
  • Connect and troubleshoot mast lights and wiring.
  • Install booms, sails, running rigging.
  • Prepare sailboats to safely sail.
  • Splice lines, service winches and furling systems-both manual and electrical/hydraulic.
  • Service sailboat steering systems and deck hardware.
  • Wax and clean spars.
  • Inspect and estimate repairs.
  • Must possess own tools.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.

Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Sailing knowledge, familiarity with boats and nomenclature preferred
  • Hoisting/Crane Operator experience preferred.
  • Previous experience preferred, willing to train.
  • ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred.
  • Basic boat handling skills preferred.
  • Experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 70 lbs. regularly and 100 lbs. on occasion with team assist or lifting tools. Able to stand for extended periods and occasionally kneel, stoop, bend and twist in tight areas. Comfortability with ladders and confined      spaces is required. Ability to work in the elements regularly.
  • All candidates must be ready, willing, and able to work a fully flexible work schedule that may include days, nights, weekends and holidays to meet the fluctuating business demands.
