Description
The fitness instructor, through collaboration with the staff, will help promote the health and well-being of our senior population. This position is responsible for implementation of Title IIIB Wellness Program and the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Program, to include 60-minute exercise classes, health screenings, health education and all required record keeping. Tuesday / Thursday - Slidell at 9am & Pearl River at 10:30am.
Requirements
- The successful candidate will bring a track record of excellence in personal trainer positions, ideally working with the elderly population.
- Conduct exercise classes at senior centers to include, but not limited to low impact aerobics, balance training, and chair exercises.
- Lead safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes.
- Design creative workouts using equipment such as resistance bands, ankle weights, dumbbells, stability balls, and more.
- Encourage participants of all fitness levels to stay active and consistent.
- Provide modifications to meet individual needs and abilities.
- Create a welcoming and supportive class environment.
- Ensure proper form and safety throughout each session
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years prior experience involving the delivery of social services or wellness programs to the public.
- Excellent communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites.
- Knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs of the elderly.
