About the Network Security Engineer position:
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Security Engineer who will be responsible for designing implementing and maintaining physical and virtual networks, devices, and hardware. They are also responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining all security-related systems.
What you'll do as a Network Security Engineer:
- Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot all physical and virtual networking devices.
- Develop and continuously improve the networking architecture and networking best practices.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and security metrics to measure the effectiveness of security controls, incident response, and overall security posture. Regularly report to executive leadership on security status, risks, and improvements.
- Ensure monitoring of performance, security, and uptime are occurring and reports to management the current operational status of the environment.
- Ensure that all network and security systems are backed up, patched, and rebooted in line with the currently documented best practices
- Design, implement, and perform routine security audits of all systems in line with the currently documented best practices including but not limited to security assessments, product integration, and penetration testing.
- Conduct firewall, router, and component configuration across the security network.
- Implement and maintain security policies and practices to protect the IT infrastructure from cyber threats.
- Stay updated with security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOC II) and ensure the infrastructure adheres to them.
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide security awareness programs that go beyond the IT department, ensuring that security practices are ingrained in the organizational culture. This involves communication strategies, training sessions, and continuous reinforcement.
- Design, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot the Citrix environment.
- In collaboration with the Infrastructure team ensure patching is completed in line with the current security policy
- Lead and orchestrate responses to major cybersecurity incidents. Develop and refine incident response plans, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and guide the team through the resolution process.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with leads to ensure the troubleshooting and resolution of system-wide problems is completed in line with SLA’s.
- Help create a culture to continuously evaluate new or emerging technologies to assist with the creation of the strategic IT Roadmap
- Lead the on-call rotation to ensure 24 x 7 support of IT operations.
- Act as a mentor within the Infrastructure team, providing guidance, training, and knowledge sharing.
What you'll need to be a successful Network Security Engineer:
- 6 to 8 years of experience as a network engineer, network security engineer, or similar position.
- Bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Experience with NetScaler, Paloalto, and Azure networking.
- Technically proficient with firewalls, switches, AV, and Azure cloud.
- Experience providing coaching and mentoring to subordinate team members is a plus.
