As an Authorization Specialist at Transitions Care you will be responsible to create and update patient related records in HCHB for Non-Medicare patients that require authorization. Optimize collections for Revenue Cycle by obtaining timely authorizations for the length of stay.
Major Responsibilities:
The Authorization Specialist is responsible for managing the data entry and update of patient specific authorization information into EMR system. Working with the Operations and Revenue Cycle teams to ensure all applicable patients accounts are authorized and setup up for correct payor for the Billing team.

- Completes Authorization Setup
- Applies Payor Corrections
- Timely Review and Communication of Changes
- Completes EMR Workflow
- Monitors Recertifications
- Auth Appeals
- High Volume
- Maintain Relationships with Payors
- Stay current on payor updates and changes
Reports to all scheduled work sites and shifts on time and fully prepared to engage in all job responsibilities; location of work sites and shifts will change at the discretion of the supervisor.
Service Line Specifics:
- Hospice or Room and Board Background Preferred
- Knowledge and Experience in Microsoft Excel
- Accounts Payable Background Preferred

- Nursing Facility or Long-Term Care Experience Preferred
- Pediatric Billing Experience Preferred
- Strong in Collections for Government Payor mix Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Care

Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent with two (2) years college
- Preferred two (2) years of experience in health care data entry, preferably in health care
- Preferred one (1) year of previous health care related billing experience
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
