Gray Manufacturing Company, Inc. in St. Joseph, Missouri is searching for a highly skilled, experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team! This position will serve our St. Joseph, MO manufacturing facility on second-shift, Monday-Thursday, 4:30PM-3:00AM, with Friday overtime as needed.

Job Title: Maintenance Tech III
SUPERVISED BY: Facilities Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Purpose:
Support manufacturing and company facilities by maintaining all equipment and building structures by performing preventive maintenance, scheduled corrective maintenance and emergency repairs. Able to work independently while adhering to all safety and environmental standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Performs emergency/break down repairs as necessary to support plant operations.
2. Performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to keep equipment running at peak efficiency.
3. Lead installation of new equipment and completion of small projects ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
4. Independently perform advanced electrical troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment.
5. Use CMMS to capture work history of equipment and use of spare parts.
6. Assist in training and mentoring of the maintenance team.
7. Must be able to analyze jobs by determining the fastest and safest way to complete the work.
8. Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related work as needed and giving feedback to make improvements. Produces assigned work in a timely manner and to the best of their ability assuming responsibility for the quality of their own work.
9. Demonstrates a commitment to safety by following all workplace safety procedures, rules, and regulations contributing to a culture of safety awareness by identifying potential safety hazards, taking corrective action to mitigate risks, ensuring that all tools, equipment, and workspaces are maintained in a safe and orderly condition.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
- As directed by Facilities Manager or Maintenance Coordinator
- Operate forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift
- Driving company vehicles
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lifting, twisting, reaching, carrying, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, etc.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to safely stand for 95% of the working shift.
- Ability to read, write and converse in the English language.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced knowledge of 3 phase electrical systems, 480- and 208-Volt circuits
- Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot AC/DC electrical machine controls
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic devices used in the manufacturing process
- Thorough knowledge of hydraulics as used in machine controls and ability to rebuild assemblies, such as cylinders, valves, and pumps
- Knowledge of precision measurements and shaft alignment
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair all types of air compressors
- Understanding of CNC controls (i.e., Mitsubishi, Siemens, etc.)
- Advanced plumbing knowledge
- Knowledge/uses of different grades of oils and greases
- Experience installing production equipment (robots, CNC mills, lathes, presses, etc.)
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, an operators driver’s license
