Description

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Child and Adolescent Advocate to join our Residential Services Team. The Child and Adolescent Advocate provides case management, child recreational and social group activities, childcare, crisis intervention, and information/referrals for child and adolescent clients impacted by relationship violence and sexual assault.


Reports to: Director of Residential Services

Supervises: Assigned Interns and Volunteers


Main Position Activities:

  • Meet with parents/guardians of child/adolescent clients for child advocacy needs
  • Prepare and maintain a service plan with each client
  • Maintain client files and records with confidentiality and accurate and complete documentation
  • Provide child and adolescent case management and advocacy services
  • Collect and report statistical data reflecting the services provided
  • Collaborate and act as a liaison with various other organizations and agencies (schools, daycares, etc.) to meet the needs of the clients
  • Provide childcare for shelter children
  • Organize and execute child activities and fieldtrips including driving the agency vehicle
  • Provide safety planning and crisis intervention for crisis line callers
  • Dispatch Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners and Survivor Advocates to Denton County Hospitals for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Provide callers with appropriate community resource referrals and information regarding protective orders, crime victim’s compensation, Child Protective services, and all DCFOF agency services
  • Participate in DCFOF staff and education meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements


Prerequisites:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with children
  • Demonstrated understanding of relationship violence and sexual assault issues
  • Minimum 23 years old

Preferences:

  • Bilingual in Spanish

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Ability to easily climb stairs
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Salary Description
$50,000-$52,500/year
