Sharetec is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our team!

In this role, you will utilize your technical expertise to help our team take our aging software and tech stack into the modern era, ruthlessly seek out root causes, deep dive into the needs of our customers with our business analysts to help them define tickets, and lead/mentor a team of high quality engineers.


This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid-remote position that can be located at one of our office sites in Ft. Wayne, IN or Waco, TX. For the right candidate, fully remote work is also an option. We can only consider remote employees who reside in one of the states listed below. The starting salary range is $115,000 - $145,000 DOE.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will:

  • Set the standards for our software, ensuring high quality code, scalability, and security
  • Document our processes, products, and APIs
  • Mentor and coach a team of Software Engineers
  • Assist with our releases and ensure we remain on schedule
  • Participate in road mapping sessions
  • Review code and coach/mentor via pair programming
  • Be an Agile Scrum advocate
  • Help modernize and transform our existing software and write new features for our customers

You should have:

  • 8+ year's experience as a software engineer, with experience as a technical lead
  • 2+ year’s managing databases such as Progress OpenEdge, MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
  • Experience with Agile Scrum
  • Experience with a major backend language like C#, C++, .Net, Ruby, Go
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functional
  • You actively seek out opportunities to mentor, coach, and sponsor other engineers in their career growth
  • A strong product sense, maintain a high degree of empathy for your internal and external users and seek feedback from them about your work
  • A strong sense of development ergonomics, and take pride in understanding your engineer customers
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and get excited about working collaboratively to better define complex problems, figure out solutions, and then execute on them.
  • The ability to strike a balance between speed and quality of features to create durable technology. You thrive on building scalable systems that are robust, failure-resistant, and easy to maintain.
  • A practice of keeping up with industry trends and assessing new technologies that can help us better solve problems

Bonus Skills:

  • CI/CD pipeline creation with Gitlab
  • Experience moving applications into docker containers from scratch
  • Familiarity with Progress OpenEdge
  • Experience with Angular and/or Typescript
