Safety Technician

Description

The Safety Technician is responsible for executing safety objectives throughout the facility. Reporting directly to the Safety Manager this individual will predominantly work on the production floor establishing new safety procedures as well as improving existing ones. 


1st Shift:  6am-4:30pm 

Monday - Friday overtime as needed. 

This is an hourly role starting at $25 an hour 


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Champion safety by monitoring and observing associates working on the production/shop floor and identifying hazards and effectively communicating those hazards to the associates.
  • Review current JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) documents, and complete new JHA’s as needed. 
  • Assist with Ergonomic Assessments (Safe Observations).
  • Lead site Safety Team: (Organize, Develop, Train, and Lead).
  • Review current Lockout Placards & Authorized User List, including verifying proper labeling of lockout points. 
  • Conduct Safety Layered Process Audits (LPA).
  • Assist Safety Manager in developing and conducting training (i.e. Fork Truck Training, Lock Out, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Emergency Preparedness, First Aid/CPR etc). 
  • Assist with follow up on closure of incident reports.
  • Collect information from each departmental Always Aware safety program and follow-up with solutions.
  • Review chemicals on site and verify current SDS are in the online system.
  • Maintain campus wide cart safety straps.
  • Conduct monthly fire extinguisher and EXIT lighting inspections.
  • Provide “Boots on the Ground” mentality for all EHS functions and improvement opportunities.
Requirements

  Required Education, Training or Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and support initiatives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Demonstrated ability for direct and specific communications with Supervisors, other members of Management and      production associates.
  • Ability to participate and complete additional training as identified (i.e. OSHA 10-hour Hazard Analysis).
  • Operation of a digital camera, downloading pictures, and importing them into documentation.
