Contract Specialist

Novaspect, Inc. is currently offering an opportunity for a Contracts Specialist to join our fast paced, customer-oriented team in our Schaumburg, IL location. Novaspect is a growing and progressive company and seeks a talented and friendly professional with the business acumen and drive to develop and evolve the company’s contracting enterprise. The successful candidate is a detail-oriented professional responsible for supporting a variety of contract-related matters including, at a minimum, reviewing commercial terms and conditions, confidentiality agreements, and making recommendations in accordance with company guidelines, risk tolerance and business objectives.


Contract Specialist Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with multiple departments to develop, negotiate, and administer clear, concise, and effective contracts with customers, vendors and various business initiatives
  • Appreciates the importance of business and sales strategies and seeks to align work efforts with those strategies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all departments to maximize a win-win outcome which, while meeting business objectives, is practical and executable
  • Learn Novaspect’s products, services, business model and risk tolerances and effectively apply these insights into work products
  • Drive business and contractual discussions with customers, including follow-up and resolution of outstanding issues
  • Proactively engage with customer contacts at all levels, ensuring positive working relations and excellent customer service
  • Serve as a resource for helping internal departments (and management) evaluate the meaning and/or impact of terms and conditions
  • Be the champion and expert user for Novaspect’s contract lifecycle management (CLM) system
  • Use the CLM to initiate, track and archive agreements. Work across the company to encourage wide-spread use of the CLM system and leverage the CLM system for business and process analytics
  • Maintain consistent best practices approach to contract (pricing and terms) and agreement terms and approaches
  • The candidate will work cross-functionally within the company and with outside partners to address regulatory compliance concerns, insurance issues and domestic entity management
  • Support customers’ certificate of insurance requests and field other insurance questions from internal and external stakeholders
  • Review and, as applicable, negotiate non-disclosure agreements with customers and vendors
  • Work collaboratively with Business Unit Management to effectively and efficiently negotiate supplier contracts
  • Work collaboratively with Emerson Contract Administrators on common terms and conditions negotiations


Requirements

Contract Specialist Education / Experience / Work Focus:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree. Legal degree welcome
  • 4+ years’ contracts experience in a business environment
  • Familiarity with data protection regulations and cybersecurity frameworks as they relate to contracts and business operations
  • Capability to independently negotiate, draft, interpret, and administer contracts
  • Solid understanding of contractual issues related to risk and reliability
  • Attention to detail. Able to work well independently as well as in collaborative team environments
  • Strong business focus (understands the risk versus reward aspect of each engagement)
  • Prior experience with companies selling goods and services (knowledge of software service contracts is a plus)
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • Effective at building long term relationships and collaborating with multiple internal departments
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus
  • Experience in working with CLM system is important, familiarity with Evisort is a plus
  • Familiarity with federal, state and/or municipal contracting principles is a plus

Contract Specialist Pay:

  • Base Range: $75,000 - $95,000
  • Bonus: 5%

Salary Description
$75000 - $95000 per year
