Description

The Clinical Nurse Manager provides leadership and clinical oversight to field staff across multiple markets, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care aligned with the organization’s vision, mission, and goals. This role manages field nurses and other clinical support roles providing in-home patient care, fostering team and individual development to enhance clinical skill level and the overall quality of care delivery. The Clinical Nurse Manager collaborates cross-functionally to ensure regulatory compliance, drive quality improvement initiatives, promote a culture of clinical excellence, and contribute to a safe, engaging, equitable, and inclusive workplace.


Key Details:

  • Location: Remote, with up to 25% travel
  • Reports to: Senior Director of Field Care Delivery
  • Direct Reports: Market specific field staff primarily licensed practical nurses (LPNs), with potential inclusion of registered nurses, medical assistants, or paramedics depending on geographic staffing needs and constraints. Direct reports are geographically dispersed across multiple markets, necessitating virtual management, close collaboration with in-market leads, and periodic travel for in-person engagement.
  • Daily work: Supervise, manage, and direct field staff.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with market, nursing, and clinical leadership to standardize and optimize field care delivery, ensuring seamless integration of roles within each market’s interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage field staff, including hiring, performance evaluations, retention strategies, and ongoing support and professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate field staff performance metrics, building their capacity to achieve objectives and goals.
  • Oversee clinical care delivery by field staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory and practice standards while enhancing skill levels and quality of care delivery.
  • Coordinate onboarding, daily coverage, and workload allocation in collaboration with market leadership and field staff leads.
  • Conduct clinical competency evaluations for new hires and annual reviews, developing individualized remediation plans as needed.
  • Lead field staff to deliver efficient, safe, and timely care that is sensitive to the patient's physical, psychological and spiritual needs and is aligned with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Ensure quality improvement programs and clinical initiatives are incorporated in nursing care and clinical services delivered to patients.
  • Partner with market teams to understand and appreciate each market's unique team dynamics and patient care context, addressing local needs while ensuring adherence to practice and organizational standards
  • Collaborate with the Quality Department to address safety events involving field staff, including developing and implementing remediation and improvement plans.
  • Foster clinical excellence by staying current with applicable practice standards and evidence-based care and engaging staff in ongoing education and professional development.
  • Promote a practice environment that reduces work-related health risks and hazards.
  • Advance team-based care by promoting effective collaboration between field staff and providers and ensuring their integration into the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Champion a culture of excellence by advocating for and driving change to enhance patient care, improve staff engagement, and promote an equitable and inclusive workplace.
  • Provides leadership and direction aligned with the organization’s philosophy and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Partner with market operational leaders and leads to support medication inventory management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; applicants with an associate degree in nursing and commensurate clinical experience will be considered.
  • Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in one of the market locations
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • At least 3 years of direct patient care, preferably in an ambulatory setting
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or management position, with direct nurse reports
  • Current certification in Basic life support (BLS).
  • Proficiency in blood draws, laboratory specimen collection, medication and vaccine administration, urinary catheterization, wound care, removal of sutures/staples, basic hearing and vision tests, and home safety evaluations. Able to train and evaluate clinical skills.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience providing in-home clinical care
  • Certified nurse manger and/or leader (American Organization for Nursing Leadership, or similar)
  • Training and/or experience in complex care, geriatrics, and/or palliative medicine

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to effectively engage staff in virtual settings, creating a social presence and building trusting relationships with teams and individuals.
  • Ability to train and evaluate clinical skills and workflows, including development of supporting educational resources.
  • Knowledge of nursing, medical assistant, and paramedic/EMT practice standards, including safe and effective delegation practices.
  • Familiarity with current infection prevention & control resources aligned with regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, CDC, and AHRQ)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in the use of appropriate data and databases to inform decisions.
  • Proficient in electronic health record systems.

Base Salary/ Wage Range $115,000 to $125,000 with annual bonus. Compensation for the role is commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
