We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining financial integrity, implementing best accounting practices, and ensuring accurate reporting. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing strategic insights that will contribute to our continued growth and success.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Provide insights into financial performance, variances, and trends to aid decision-making processes.
- General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled on a regular basis. Address any discrepancies promptly and collaborate with relevant departments to resolve issues.
- Banking: manage all banking activity.
- Reconciling: Reconcile balance sheet accounts (sub-ledger to general ledger account balances), and bank statements for all operating bank accounts.
- Accounts Payable Management: Oversee and maintain all aspects of accounts payable (GL, vendor maintenance, 1099 reporting).
- Managing Company/Employee Expenses: Oversee all P-card expenses, expense entry in ERP and maintain the general ledger.
- Prepare Journal Entries: Prepare journal entries and intercompany related journal entries throughout the month and at month-end.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgets, highlighting significant deviations and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
- Auditing and Compliance: Assist in the coordination of internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation and supporting materials are readily available for auditors. Comply with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct in-depth cost analysis to identify areas of improvement and cost-saving opportunities. Provide actionable recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
- Financial Systems and Process Enhancement: Continuously improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices.
- Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Encourage professional growth and provide guidance on complex accounting matters.
- Tax Compliance: Assist with tax-related matters, including income tax filings, sales tax, and other relevant taxes. Stay up-to-date with tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Financial Analysis and Special Projects: Support the finance leadership team in conducting financial analysis for various strategic initiatives and special projects.
Skill, Education, and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or advanced degree is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or relevant role, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and financial systems. Preference for experience with NetSuite and Concur.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving challenges.
- Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Experience in leading and mentoring junior accounting professionals is a plus.
Compensation
In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the compensation for this role is $77,000 -$110,000 per year, however, Vita Inclinata Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
