Vector is seeking a Proposal Writer is responsible for responding to highly complex, large, and/or high-profile requests for proposal (RFPs) and requests for information (RFIs). This position ensures all responses are current, well written, and accurately reflect Vector Solutions key messages, products, and services to support sales objectives. You will lead all aspects of assigned Request for Proposals to submission and evaluates opportunities to drive continuous improvement within the organization.You will compose informative documents to help companies secure a client’s business. The most important responsibility of a Proposal Writer is to effectively convey information about products and services, in many cases to those who might be unfamiliar with these details. Proposal Writers must handle multiple revisions, edit and re-edit proposal sections as needed, and ensure that proposals maintain a consistent tone or voice. You will write original content, edit documents and work with other writers as well as sales engineers and sales reps, to design proposals. By knowing the software and its application to customer segments, this person will guide the process of authoring proposals. This person will be responsible for organizing documentation so it can be most easily reused.



What You'll Do:

  • Lead large, complex projects and serve as a key resource for complex or critical issues pertaining to bid completion; act as liaison to internal and external stakeholders with regard to bid opportunity, product gaps, or process roadblocks
  • Develop concise, accurate, and well-written responses to proposal questions using the established criteria for quality proposal responses; partner with stakeholders (sales lead, account manager and/or client) to determine appropriate inclusion of strategic positioning and messaging
  • Facilitate meetings with sales and account management leadership to ensure content is effectively and accurately representing the varied and unique products and services of each of our product lines
  • Partner with Legal and stakeholders at all levels of the organization to garner approval on deviations from standards related to business requirements
  • Work with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop new proposal content and develop appropriate language based on products and services
  • Author proposals in response to Request for Proposals and sales personnel communications
  • Translate highly technical information and business jargon into clear, consistent, grammatically correct content.
  • Maintain library of proposals with common parts easily identifiable and integrated with new proposals; utilize Loopio for content management and response creation
  • Understand market segments, industry best practices and competitors
  • Provide feedback to the product design team on features that are not present in the software but desired by potential customers
  • Managing the proposal response process to make sure that all parties understand their roles and that deadlines are met and quality is maintained.
  • Review daily list services to mine for new opportunities related to our SaaS solutions.
  • Assist in the FOIA process to obtain and manage competitive information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; HS diploma or GED is required
  • 2+ years of work experience responding to proposals
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask within a fast-paced, challenging, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills; ability to develop strong working relationships with, and influence internal and external clients at all levels
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions
  • Ability to understand and translate complex and/or technical concepts into commonly understood language
  • Experience with Loopio or other proposal management software
  • Knowledge of the Shipley Associates proposal processes is a plus
  • APMP Certification a plus
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
