Summary:
The NPI SMT lead is responsible the evaluation of new product designs with an eye towards efficient high quality repeatable manufacturing process. The lead will be supporting a high mix, low volume environment. They are tasked with resolving process challenges, including SMT/TH defects and assembly flow improvements. Additionally, they conduct operator training on new or updated technologies, coordinate first piece activities, and facilitate process defect reviews. They will be working in an AS9100 quality system.
Evaluate new engineering designs for manufacturability and work collaboratively to resolve findings.
Evaluate new SMT technologies and methodologies to support new product designs.
Ability to manage a complete SMT line.
Programming knowledge of all elements of an SMT line.
Troubleshooting production related defects and improving processes to root cause resolution.
Through understanding of the current manufacturing equipment limitations.
Optimization of manufacturing processes, including change-over/setups, to maximize production efficiency.
Function in a team-based mindset to ensure buy in from all relevant parties.
Lead, guide, and support team members in daily tasks and development.
Oversee the assignment of personnel and coordination of work activities.
Provide feedback and assessments on team performance and growth.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Must have several years New Product Introduction experience, Emphasis on DFM
Candidate must have 5+ years of directly related SMT manufacturing experience.
IPC-610/JSTD-001 certification required.
Circuit CAM and Gerber good working knowledge/understanding is required.
Management of a New Product Introduction Department or group.
Language Skills:
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Experience with the Mycronic equipment a positive. Programming and the use of Selective Solder systems, Mirtec/Viscom AOI, CircuitCam and Aegis software.
