Statement of Purpose: The Director of Content Marketing at CAN Community Health is a dynamic leader responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s digital strategy to amplify its mission of empowering wellness through compassion, community, and equity. This role oversees all aspects of digital marketing, including content strategy, website management, social media, email campaigns, SEO/SEM, and analytics, ensuring a cohesive and impactful online presence. The Director will lead a team of digital professionals, collaborate across departments, and utilize cutting-edge strategies to enhance engagement, increase brand awareness, and drive measurable results.  This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer.

Essential Functions:

Digital Strategy Development

  • Create and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectives.  
  • Drive campaigns to promote CAN Community Health’s programs, services, and events, with a focus on HIV prevention, education, and care.  

Content Marketing and Social Media

  • Oversee the creation, management, and optimization of engaging digital content across all platforms, including websites, blogs, social media, and email.  
  • Develop a robust social media strategy to increase engagement and foster community connections.  

Website Management

  • Manage the organization’s website, ensuring an intuitive user experience, mobile responsiveness, and accessibility.  
  • Optimize the website for search engines (SEO) to improve visibility and organic traffic.  

Analytics and Performance Measurement

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key digital marketing metrics, using data to inform and refine strategies.  
  • Utilize tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and CRM platforms to track campaign effectiveness and ROI.  

Paid Advertising Campaigns

  • Plan, execute, and manage digital advertising campaigns, including Google Ads, social media ads, and programmatic advertising, to support outreach and awareness initiatives.  

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of digital marketing professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.  
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure alignment and efficiency.  

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with clinical, community engagement, and development teams to ensure consistent messaging and integration across digital platforms.  
  • Support fundraising efforts by creating and managing digital campaigns to engage donors and supporters.  

Innovation and Industry Trends

  • Stay informed on emerging digital marketing trends and technologies to keep CAN Community Health at the forefront of digital innovation.  

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and separation of employees in accordance3 with company policy.

Education/Professional:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field required. 
  2. Minimum of 5-7 years in digital marketing leadership, preferably in healthcare or non-profit organizations.  
  3. Expertise in SEO/SEM, content marketing, social media platforms, and analytics tools.  
  4. Proven track record of developing and executing successful digital campaigns.  
  5. Proficiency in marketing platforms such as Google Ads, Facebook Business Manager, and email marketing tools.  
  6. Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and best practices.  

Competencies (Required Skills and Abilities):

  1. Must demonstrate initiative, be highly organized, able to manage multiple projects while prioritizing work assignments, and able to work well with executive team and staff at all levels in the organization.
  2. Must have excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. 
  3. Needs good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email marketing platform (e.g. Constant Contact), and website content management systems (e.g. WordPress).
  4. Excellent writing skills and the ability to understand challenges and stigma associated with HIV/AIDS/Hepatitis C and other diseases.
  5. The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to manage marketing and public relations for audiences inside and outside the organization. Ability to evaluate opportunities for organization promotion and manage a budget. 
  6. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  7. Excellent people manager, open to direction, suggestions, and commitment to get the job done. 
  8. Delegates responsibility effectively. 
  9. High comfort working in a diverse environment.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, audio visual, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Expected Hours of Work:

  • This position may require additional time above normal operating hours and on occasion weekend work.
  • Travel is primary during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license.
