Purpose and Scope:
The Payroll Administrator will support the payroll operations for a government contractor operating in 3+ states. This role involves ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and efficient coordination with accounting, HR, and other departments. The ideal candidate will have experience working with government contract payroll.
Responsibilities:
- Process and manage multi-state, bi-monthly payroll for employees, in addition to handling monthly subcontractor payroll and 1099 payments.
- Ensure accuracy by reconciling employee timesheet data with payroll records to maintain consistency and compliance.
- Oversee payroll operations for a large and diverse workforce, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement of wages.
- Maintain comprehensive payroll records and ensure all data is up-to-date and securely stored.
- Manage payroll tax reconciliations on a bi-monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support payroll-related communications and collaborate with state agencies to ensure full compliance with all payroll laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in processing and filing payroll for multi-state operations, ensuring compliance with varied state regulations.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state tax laws and employee benefit structures.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, refine, and implement payroll processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Proven track record in identifying and executing process improvements that drive greater accuracy and streamline payroll workflows.
- Proficient in navigating payroll platforms to process payments, manage deductions, and resolve discrepancies.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all payroll functions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
- Other payroll or accounting certifications are a plus.
- Proficient in payroll software (e.g., Unanet & Paylocity)
- Experience in government contracting with a strong understanding of compliance requirements and industry-specific regulations.
Working Environment:
eSimplicity supports a remote work environment operating within the Eastern time zone so we can work with and respond to our government clients. Expected hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern unless otherwise directed by manager.
Occasional travel for training and project meetings. It is estimated to be less than 25% per year.
