What you will be doing
We are looking for an experienced, talented, and motivated Systems Administrator to be a key member of a small, skilled, results-oriented team of IT professionals. The role involves broad responsibility for deploying end-user equipment, server maintenance, security, backup/restores, monitoring, optimization, and support. The ideal Systems Administrator should be a thought leader who designs and develops processes and systems to improve efficiencies and effectiveness within our technical space.
In this role, you will be hands-on with the development and support of key applications and solutions that support other departments and teams. You will have a focus on security, web-based applications, and end-user support. Most of our end-users are based in the United States, but we support end-users in several additional countries worldwide. The Systems Administrator develops controls/access/permissions to enterprise applications, Google Workspace accounts, and ensures data security across the organization.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Responsible for administration and maintenance of our corporate Google Workspace account;
- Onboarding and Training for New Hires;
- Perform software installation and upgrades, including planning and scheduling, testing, and coordination;
- Deploy laptop equipment and peripherals to new employees;
- Development and management of Zendesk multi-channel (email, inbound phone, chat, and form submission) ticketing system for internal and external support;
- Development and management of systems monitoring and alert systems. Troubleshoot system performance and failure issues;
- Respond to critical systems alerts and troubleshoot systems failures during evenings and weekends;
- Perform data backups and recoveries – and improve existing systems for higher availability.
- Laptop and mobile device management;
- Optimize networking/security for remote employee access to servers and other resources.
- Development of controls and auditing plans for external compliance;
- Proactively research new technology and software to develop and implement cost or labor-saving opportunities;
- Research, propose, define, design, and implement system enhancements, including software and hardware upgrades, to improve the reliability of Windows-based and Mac-based systems;
- Examples of software and tools we support include Google Workspace, JumpCloud, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Slack, Zendesk, Asana, Salesforce, JIRA, Wordpress, WP Engine, Lucidchart, TeamViewer, and more;
- Responsible for supporting end-users in several countries worldwide.; and
- Work with a team of peers who are professional, responsible for their workload, and share a passion for what they are creating.
What Skills we are looking for:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work professionally in a fast-paced, team environment with internal and external contacts at all levels.
- Must demonstrate strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving skills with ability to apply modern technologies, concepts, & functionality to solve problems and implement solutions.
- Working knowledge of email server technology, email security frameworks, and anti-spam technology.
- Google Workspace application and email administration.
- Working knowledge of DNS, Firewall, WAF, and VPN network technologies.
- A solid Ops foundation – you are always thinking, “what happens if this fails” when you build things.
- Logical and creative thinker.
- Familiarity supports firewall, WAF, and VPN network technologies.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services and background working with AWS services (EC2, VPC, ELB, S3, RDS).
- Available for after-hours support when necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
KEY EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in Information Technology or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in general Systems Administration.
- Applicable IT certifications are preferred but not required.
