Position: Design Engineer

Position Reports to the President/CEO

Job Location: On site- Fullerton

Job Type: Full-time

Pay Rate: $60,000-$90,000 Annually 


Job Description

Work with the President in the design and development of lighting fixtures. Use Solidworks to create 3D models, use 3D printer for rapid prototyping, and create 2D drawings for manufacturing. Work with the Director of Engineering and the Purchasing Department to ensure correct part numbers are being used, current drawings are used for quoting from vendors, and production samples pass inspection.


Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprint and technical drawings. 
  • Develop production components using 3D Computer Aided Design (SolidWorks) under supervision of President of the company. 
  • Create Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) engineering drawings for machine parts/assemblies. 
  • Ensure Bill of Materials created for production is correct. 
  • Work with sales department to ensure all quotes sent to customers are correct. 
  • Create power layout drawings to help customer install products. 
  • Revise and update revisions of drawings on SolidWorks EPDM network. 
  • Rapid prototype designs using 3D printer 
  • Investigate equipment failures to diagnose faulty operations and recommend remedial actions.
  • Coordinate with purchasing department and vendors on aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs. 
  • Ensure pre-production prototypes are inspected and approved. 
  • Test all the fixtures to ensure adherence to UL Rating. 
  • Perform AGI mockup on lighting projects and calculating the amount of light that will be delivered based on user-set parameters. 
  • Coordinate with lighting design team on transitioning complete system to new software, AutoDesk Revit.
Requirements
  • Technical knowledge of electrical and lighting products.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering with an emphasis in electricity preferred.
  • Knowledge of UL requirements.
  • 2 years working with electrical and lighting products.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • 2 years SolidWorks experience.
  • Six Sigma knowledge a plus.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
