We are seeking a Director of Sales to lead our sales team to new heights. This role requires a driven, strategic, and results-oriented leader who can build processes, enforce accountability, and drive new business development while nurturing our existing relationships.
Primary Objectives:

- Oversee new customer acquisition
- Oversee collections on customer balances
- Ensure productivity through efficient and effective processes in the department

Compensation:
- $130,000 base salary
- 50% bonus on target earnings
- 30% 401(k) company match
- PTO and paid holidays
- Employer contributions towards insurance
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of sellers
- Ensure that the team meets and exceeds sales and collections goals
- Set clear sales goals and objectives, and monitor progress towards achieving them.
- Routinely provide constructive performance feedback to ensure targets are met.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the sales team.
- Drive initiatives to grow customer base and coach each team member through the process
- Collaborate with senior management to develop sales strategies aligned with company goals and objectives.
- Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth.
- Oversee daily sales operations and ensure seamless coordination between sales and other departments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and accounts and help account executives do the same
- Weight in on marketing initiatives.
- Identify areas for improvement within the sales process and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Other duties as assigned
- Hands-on experience selling products and collecting on customer balances.
- Minimum of 10 years of sales experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Strong track record of identifying, pursuing, and closing new business opportunities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of sales performance metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or relevant field preferred. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Certification or training in sales, leadership, collections or related area preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of retail and wholesale value.
- Familiarity with the closeout, off-price, or CPG distribution space is a significant advantage.
- Ability to learn how to navigate new systems quickly.
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience preferred. Acumatica experience highly preferred.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills (in person, over the phone, online).
- Diligent follow up and organizational skills to help the team prioritize and focus on driving sales.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Ability to problem-solve and take decisive action.
- Ability to self-manage with a sense of urgency and quality orientation.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to spend most of time at a desk, behind a screen and on a phone.
- Available to work onsite in our River Grove, IL office Monday through Friday
- Domestic travel several times a year for up to a week at a time for trade shows as needed
