Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to design the curbs and curb adapter blueprints that are instrumental in the production of CDI’s product by using our SolidWorks software as well as working closely with the CDI engineering team and production leadership.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for using SolidWorks and associated software to generate the shop paperwork per the Engineering build scheduler, including drawings and work instructions.
- Generate SolidWorks designs & drawings for orders of CDI products in a timely fashion including 3D, break-sheet, engineering paperwork.
- Create basic 3D drawings for new opportunities.
- Review of completed jobs to ensure CDI Design Standards are being followed & customer dimensions are correct.
- Contact customers to acquire missing information when required
- Strive for continuous improvement by working on ways to make job duties easier, faster, or better value to CDI
Full-Time Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- SolidWorks certification or practical experience using Sheet metal, parts and assemblies
- Vocational and/or associate's degree in related field or equivalent experience
- CAD Drafting – 2D, Solid modeling, Assembly, Part Drawings, detailing, dimensioning
- Basic mechanical drafting standards
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong technical aptitude – Able to read and generate 3D drawings.
- Able to create drawings from sketches and concept discussions.
- Strong written & oral communication skills.
- Able to interface with internal and external customers
- Organized, on target, on time and goal oriented
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- SolidWorks certification or practical experience using Sheet metal, parts and assemblies
- CAD Drafting – 2D, Solid modeling, Assembly, Part Drawings, detailing, dimensioning
- Basic mechanical drafting standards
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Sheet Metal Fabrication
- Understanding of the HVAC Industry
- Lean Principles
- SolidWorks structural analysis package
- Airflow analysis software
