JOB SUMMARY


The Program Supervisor furthers the mission of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) through Kiwanis Resident Camp programming. The Program Supervisor facilitates and supervises Archery and Ropes Programming and staff, and all general camp program activities and needs while providing safe, fun, and educational experiences for campers in accordance with GSUSA policies and procedures, American Camp Association (ACA) procedures, and Texas Department of Health requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare, deliver, and supervise programs in the assigned activity areas. 
  • Ensure and lead appropriate health and safety routines for campers and staff. 
  • Participate in staff training and meetings. 
  • Conduct inventory of supplies and submit orders to the Camp Director when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of supplies so that programming is never delayed for campers.   
  • Become familiar with all camp programs and offer suggestions in the assigned activity area guidelines to the Camp Director.  
  • Ensure program area cleanliness according to the Texas Department of Health and GSTOP guidelines. 
  • Maintain program equipment on ropes course and archery field and supplies to keep in accordance with state standards and program licensing (ACCT). 
  • Ensure program areas are safe and free of hazards and debris. 
  • Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning, and leading those assigned. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude when working with campers and staff. 
  • Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to the Camp Director. 
  • Assist in packing all materials and supplies at the end of summer camping season. 
  • Set a good example to campers and staff regarding general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship. 
  • Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth. 
  • Assures campers and staff are properly always supervised.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Minimum 18 years of age.  
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required (provided by GSTOP). 
  • Experience working with children, peers, and having a supervisor. 
  • Ropes Certification and Archery Certification or willing to become so (provided by GSTOP).
  • Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including residing at camp. 
  • Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance. 
  • You must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

  • Ability and willingness to work in an environment which includes exposure to environmental allergens including, but not limited to, dust, mold, pollen, live birds, insects, and other animals.  
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods of time and able to function work duties in the heat of summer. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

SEASONAL CAMP DATES

  • Staff Training Week: June 2-6, 2025
  • Camp Week1: June 8-13, 2025
  • Camp Week 2: June 15-20, 2025

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Required valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (will be provided if needed). 
  • Ropes Certification Level One (will be provided if needed). 
  • Archery Certification (will be provided if needed).
