Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Lifeguard furthers the mission of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) through Camp Kiwanis Day Camp aquatics programming. The Lifeguard will assist the Aquatics Director with any needs while being a Lifeguard at Camp Kiwanis Day Camp.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise campers in all aquatic activities in accordance with definitions of Lifeguard duties.
- Certified Lifeguard or willing to become so (provided if needed).
- Provide rescue and first aid as needed.
- Encourage camper privacy when campers change in and out of bathing suits by changing in area with closing i.e., shower curtain.
- Evaluate staff and camper aquatic abilities to ensure safety.
- Understand and implement appropriate responses to changes in water conditions or weather conditions.
- Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures during aquatic activities.
- Conduct daily checks of pool, aquatic area, cleanliness, and any all-chemical processes.
- Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those assigned by the Program Coordinator and Camp Director.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Experience working with children, peers, and having a supervisor.
- Current Lifeguard Certification or ability to obtain one (provided if needed).
- Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
- Must be willing to work with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including residing at camp.
- Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance.
- You must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

- Ability and willingness to work in an environment which includes exposure to environmental allergens including, but not limited to, dust, mold, pollen, live birds, insects, and other animals.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods of time and able to function work duties in the heat of summer.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
SEASONAL CAMP DATES
- Staff Training Week: June 2-6, 2025
- Camp Week1: June 8-13, 2025
- Camp Week 2: June 15-20, 2025
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
- Required Lifeguard Certification.
