Description
JOB SUMMARY
Kitchen staff members assist in the organization, preparation, directing, and facilitation of well-balanced meals for the campers, staff, and guests. Kitchen staff ensure that all standards set forth in Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints, America Camp Association (ACA), and the Texas Department of Health are all always met.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate electrical and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to steamer, warming ovens, convection oven, electric slicer, dishwasher, and flat grill.
- Ensure the dining room and kitchen are continually clean and hygienic, including the ice machine in the dining hall, floors, and tables.
- Have the necessary supplies readily available and be prepared to give the Kitchen Supervisor a shopping list and shop for items not kept on hand if needed.
- Assist in preparing three well-balanced meals a day for campers and staff.
- Assist in supervision of sanitary conditions in kitchen and dining hall according to Texas Health Code Law and ACA, including pantry, food storage, and use of leftovers.
- Help plan daily snacks for campers and special snacks for staff, as directed by the Kitchen Supervisor.
- Assist with ordering food from approved suppliers, keeping within budget guidelines.
- Provide for the special dietary needs of campers and staff as the need arises.
- Maintain inventory of kitchen and dining hall equipment.
- Participate in staff training and meetings.
- Participate in the end of summer cleaning and packing of all materials and supplies and inventory.
- Participate in "All Camp" and special program activities.
- Must be able to lift fifty (25) pounds and carry several feet, place the item on the counter at least three (3) feet high at least three (3) times per day.
- Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving and kitchen procedures.
- Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp community.
- Work in the camp kitchen under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor and Camp Director.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Current Food Handlers Certification or ability to obtain one (provided if needed).
- Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
- Must be willing to collaborate with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule while residing at camp.
- Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance.
- You must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

- Staff Training Week: June 2-6, 2025
- Camp Week1: June 8-13, 2025
- Camp Week 2: June 15-20, 2025
CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSE
- Food Handlers License (Provided by GSTOP if needed)
- First Aid and CPR with AED (Provided by GSTOP if needed)
