Description
The Lead Courier will coordinate pick-ups, deliveries, and routes of all library materials and correspondence to and from designated Library branches of LS&S and other locations as assigned. They will also oversee courier staff's scheduling, training, and development and monitor and manage preventative maintenance. The Lead Courier must be professional, provide excellent customer service, and communicate clearly with staff at all levels.
Responsibilities:
- Drive a company-owned vehicle to transport books and other library materials, interoffice correspondence, furniture, etc., to and from libraries within the LS&S network.
- Oversee scheduling, training, and professional development of courier staff.
- Monitor and oversee preventative maintenance on all vehicles and order urgent or emergency repairs as needed.
- Ensure maintenance records for the fleet are accurate and up to date
- Assist in the sorting and routing of books and other library materials
- Lifting, shifting of boxes, cartons, crates of 50-75 lbs.
- Load and unload the courier van.
- Interact with a diverse population of staff and patrons positively.
- Knowledge of Riverside County streets and traffic patterns to ensure completion of courier route following schedules and deadlines
- Provide excellent customer service
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Must have a valid California driving license with a clean DMV driving record
- Ability to repeatedly climb in and out of courier van, stoop, crouch, lift, carry, load & move heavy packages and books
- Proficient in computer skills
- Bilingual or multilingual skills desired
- Excellent Communication skills – both verbal and written
- Flexible team player
- Dependability in terms of attendance is a must
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
