The Career Pathways Consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing career pathways for key roles at Cook County Health (CCH) to enhance employee engagement, retention, and professional development. This position involves collaboration with stakeholders, analysis of existing training resources, and the creation of customized career development plans aligned with organizational goals. The Consultant will play a vital role in fostering an environment of growth and opportunity for employees across CCH.
Key Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Engagement and Needs Assessment:
- Conduct interviews and focus groups with employees, managers, and leadership to identify career development needs and expectations.
- Analyze feedback to understand skill gaps and development opportunities within key roles.
Career Pathway Development:
- Design and implement clear, actionable career pathways for employees in key roles, considering both organizational objectives and employee aspirations.
- Develop customized career plans that include defined progression steps, required skills, and training resources.
- Collaborate with Learning and Development teams to ensure training programs align with career pathways.
Resource Review and Enhancement:
- Evaluate existing training materials, tools, and resources to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to enhance or create new development programs that support career growth.
Assessment and Validation:
- Develop and administer assessments or feedback tools to validate the effectiveness of career pathways and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Regularly review and refine career pathways based on employee feedback and changing workforce needs.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement:
- Track the effectiveness of career pathways through metrics such as employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to leadership to enhance career development initiatives.
- Proven background in workforce development, human resources consulting, or talent management.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing career development programs, career pathways, or succession planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess needs and create strategic solutions.
- Familiarity with career planning tools, methodologies, and learning management systems (LMS).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Knowledge of healthcare workforce trends is a plus.
Work Environment and Reporting Structure:
- Reports to the Director of Talent Development or a similar leadership role.
- Collaborative work environment requiring engagement with cross-functional teams, including HR, Learning and Development, and department leaders.
- May require occasional travel for meetings or training initiatives.
