JOB SUMMARY 

The Archery and Ropes Staff further the mission of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) through Timberlake Day Camp programming. Archery and Ropes Staff facilitate Archery and Ropes Programming while providing safe, fun, and educational experiences for campers in accordance with GSUSA policies and procedures, American Camp Association (ACA) procedures, and Texas Department of Health requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and deliver programs in the assigned activity areas. 
• Follow appropriate health and safety routines for campers and staff. 
• Participate in staff training and meetings. 
• Conduct inventory of supplies and submit orders to Program Supervisor when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of supplies so that programming is never delayed for campers.  
• Become familiar with all camp programs and offer suggestions in the assigned activity area guidelines.  
• Maintain area cleanliness according to the Texas Department of Health and GSTOP guidelines. 
• Maintain program equipment on ropes course and archery field and supplies. 
• Ensure program areas are safe and free of hazards and debris. 
• Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning, and leading those assigned. 
• Maintain a positive attitude when working with campers and staff. 
• Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to supervisor. 
• Assist in packing all materials and supplies at the end of summer camping season. 
• Set a good example to campers and others regarding general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship. 
• Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth. 
• Assure campers are properly always supervised.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS  

• Minimum 18 years of age. 
• Experience working with children, peers, and having a supervisor. 
• Ropes Certification and Archery Certification or willing to become so (paid for by GSTOP) 
• Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting. 
• Must be willing to work with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability. 
• Ability to work a flexible schedule. 
• Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance. 
• Must complete and pass a criminal background check. 
• Must complete and pass a drug screening.

• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and function work duties in summer heat. 
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

  SEASONAL CAMP DATES

• Staff Training Week: June 2-6, 2025
• Camp Week1: June 9-13, 2025
• Camp Week 2: June 16-20, 2025
• Camp Week 3: June 23-27, 2025
• Camp  Week 4: July 30 – July 1, 2025 (overnight)

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

• Required valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (will be provided if needed). 
• Ropes Certification and Archery Certification (provided by GSTOP).
